Zachary Alan McTyre (Zack), 33, died on Sunday, September 23rd of complications from a heart transplant after a lengthy battle in the hospital. Zack was born in Marietta, GA on January 7th, 1985 to Joy and Rick McTyre. He was a graduate of McEachern High School and Georgia College. He had a career in sales with Mattress Firm, Rooms-to-Go, Haverty's, Power Remodeling and ATandT and later when too disabled to work and waiting for a heart transplant, he studied for and earned his Georgia Real Estate License. He was married to Addie Buck, also of Marietta, on October 21st, 2012 on a beautiful fall day in Lake Junaluska, NC. They have a 2-year old son, Wesley Alan.
Zack was born with major heart defects which required surgeries as a baby. Even though he started experiencing health issues from these defects in his 20's, Zack never let it slow him down. He had a zest for life which was infectious to those around him. He loved meeting new people, good music, good food, Braves baseball, tennis, hiking, but most of all his family. He volunteered for causes he cared deeply about including the Adult Congenital Heart Association, Donate Life and the Brother Wolf Animal Shelter in Asheville. Zack did more with a broken body than many people do with a healthy one. He was an inspiration to all who knew him and who understood just how limited his heart was yet determined to live life to the fullest.
He is survived by his loving wife, who always stood by him, and son, the light of his life, mother and father, and his caring and beloved brother Emory McTyre.
Zack was a member of McEachern United Methodist Church. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, September 27th, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, and a service will be held on Friday, September 28th, at 11am in the West Cobb Funeral Home chapel.
