Willis Ray Potter, age 68, of Powder Springs, Georgia passed away August 24, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving wife and family. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel in Marietta. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Clyde and Thelma Potter, brother James S. Potter and granddaughter Candice C. Peck.
Willis Ray Potter was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He started off his career in life by being a proud marine as a helicopter mechanic. After the marines, he served as an electrician working in the coal mines of West Virginia. Following his military service, he married the love of his life and they were together for 47 wonderful years. His pride and joy consisted of working on his corvettes and spending time with his grandsons and seeing them playing their sports.
Survivors include: wife of 47 years: Brenda Potter; daughter: Tammy (Harrison) Peck of Acworth; son: James Potter of Austell; sister: Lucille Smith of Lynchburg, VA; three brothers: Rayburn Potter of Richmond, VA, Earl Potter of Richmond, VA and Jake Potter of Worth, WV; two grandchildren: Joshua Bailey Beckett and James Austin Potter and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers: Harrison Peck, Floyd Mitchell, Joshua Bailey Beckett and James Austin Potter.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta.
