William Norman Robinson, Sr., 89, of Vinings, died Saturday November 3.
He served in the military, as a member of the US Navy Seabees 92nd battalion, during WWII. During this time he was stationed on the island of Tinian, where he helped build the runways. Upon returning home, he worked in his family’s restaurant, Robinson’s Tropical Garden’s. He graduated from Atlanta Law School in 1951 and had a successful law practice in Marietta. He belonged to the Yaarab Shriner’s Temple in Atlanta. He was an active member of the Civitan Club. He was a long time member of the Vinings United Methodist Church.
He spent his life taking care of others, sharing stories of his family heritage, traveling, cooking, working in his garden and making everyone around him laugh. He loved his family, especially his great grandchildren. He could always be seen making a funny face or heard making some strange noise; he would do anything to put a smile on their face.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise M. Robinson and daughter, Tammi Schaefer. He is survived by his sons William N. Robinson, Jr., Steven Robinson, and Sean R. Robinson and his grandchildren Melissa Childs, Melanie Starzyk, Travis Heflin, Tiffany Corman, Amber Workopich, and Neal Heflin and 12 great grandchildren.
