William Eugene “Bill” Cobb, age 92, of Camellia Place at Woodstock, GA passed away Monday, December 18, 2017. Funeral Services will be held at 1pm (Central Time) at Hopewell Baptist Church in Marion, Alabama with Rev. Joe Bob Mizell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12pm until 1pm prior to the ceremony at the church.
Born June 26, 1925 in Ludlow, KY, Mr. Cobb was a proud 21 year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and his service included assignments in Japan, Hawaii and the Philippines. He also retired from the U.S Post Office. He was crazy about his family, including his grandkids and great grandkids. He was a committed follower of Jesus Christ and passionate about sharing his faith and the love of Jesus with others. He lived a great life by loving, encouraging and serving others. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty P. Cobb and 2 sisters, Dorothy Holland and Louise Steers.
After his retirement from the Air Force, he moved to Duncanville, TX where he worked for the United States Post Office. He served as a Deacon at Trinity Church in Cedar Hill, TX until he and his wife moved to Newbern, AL in 2002. There, he and his wife, Betty, were members of Hopewell Baptist Church in Marion, Al, where he also served as a Deacon until he moved to Georgia in 2015.
He is survived by: Son, William Judson Cobb (and his wife Melissa) of McKinney, TX, and his Daughter, Laura Beth Shupe (and her husband Bill) of Dallas, GA; Sister, Nancy Bell of Chesapeake, VA; 4 grandchildren, James Cobb, Jake Cobb, Sarah Shupe Burgess (and her husband Christopher) and Daniel Shupe (and his wife Lauren); 6 great grandchildren, William, Jackson, Elizabeth and Vivian Burgess, Olivia and Oliver Shupe.
