William "Bill" Caldwell Hathcock III

May 19, 1944 — June 2, 2023

William Caldwell Hathcock III, better known as Bill, died peacefully on Friday June 2nd, 2023, at Tranquility Hospice Care in Cobb County Georgia. Bill was born on May 19th, 1944, in Atlanta Georgia to William Caldwell Hathcock Jr. and Juanita Jean Hathcock. Bill Hathcock was one of those men that was always known as the life of the party, and everyone who knew him can attest to his infectious sense of humor and unique perspective on all life matters.
Bill will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to so many. Bill was cracking jokes and making the most of difficult circumstances even as he faced the end of his life. The nurses who worked with him in his final hours were touched by his kindness and lighthearted humor. Bill was a talented businessman, cattleman, and investor, who not only provided for his family, but helped support the families of those who worked with and for him. Anyone who was lucky enough to be within his sphere of influence often holds a warm testimony of how his unique character influenced their life's Journey. Bill graduated from Valdosta State University in 1969 with a degree in finance. In his early business career, he built homes and sold real estate before eventually building a successful concrete company in Paulding County.
Bill's greatest passion was his love of the cattle business. He spent the majority of his life on his ranch in Paulding County perfecting the art of breeding the grass-fed Trask polled Hereford. Bill will undoubtedly be greatly missed and losing him has left a hole in this world that could only be filled by him.
Bill is survived by his three children Ashley Stenglein, William C. Hathcock IV, and Steve Hathcock, along with their families, including 8 grandchildren, Christopher, Gardner, Luke, Pete, Liam, Havi, Levi, and Liza; as well as Joanna's children, Joel Scoggins, Matt Scoggins, and Casey Scoggins, along with their families. He is preceded in death by his parents Pete and Juanita Hathcock, brother Hal Hathcock, and his wife Joanna.
