Walter Franklin Matthews

Mr. Walter Franklin “Frank” Matthews, age 92, of Kennesaw, GA passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2016. Funeral Services will be held 11am Saturday, July 23rd at Macland Baptist Church with Dr. Richard Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park. He will lie in state at the church 1 hour prior to the service.
Born in Rossville, GA, Mr. Matthews lived in Kennesaw for the past 65 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp, serving from 1942 - 1945, and retired from Lockheed in 1982 after 31 years of employment. He also was a minister of music at various churches in Cobb County, and served as a Deacon at Roswell Street Baptist Church and Macland Baptist Church. He enjoyed teaching Sunday school and being a worship leader for various nursing homes for 20 years. Mr. Matthews was preceded in death by a son, Curtis Franklin Matthews in 1945.
