Venita “Dee Dee” Joyce Myrick Alge was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother (being a grandmother was so important to her these last few years), sister, aunt, and friend to many. Unexpectedly, Venita was granted her angel wings on August 07, 2021. She left this world peacefully surrounded by the loves of her life, Jeff and Jevares.
This is the story of Venita “Dee Dee” Myrick Alge. The story begins March 01, 1962, in Montgomery, AL. Venita was the youngest of four children born to the late Jimmy and Ollie Myrick. She accepted Christ at an early age and faithfully attended the First Baptist Church of Hope Hull, AL. Venita had a beautiful voice and sang in the church choir for many years. After moving to Georgia, she realized the need to be in relationship with other Christian believers by attending several churches in the Georgia area.
On June 30, 1990, Venita married the love of her life, Jeffrey Michael Alge. After many years of living in Montgomery, they moved to Marietta, GA and later to Powder Springs, GA which became home. Venita loved to cook, sew, and shop with “frugality”. Venita also loved her family.
She leaves to cherish her legacy of love, a devoted husband, Jeffrey Alge; a loving son Jevares Myrick (Brooklyn, NY); a daughter-in-love, Montez Nash (Brooklyn, NY) and two beautiful grandchildren, Ezra, and Elijah (Brooklyn, NY).
Included in her story are sisters, Helen Smith (Wesley), Andalusia, AL; Carolyn Olivari and Cheryl Myrick, (Montgomery, AL); mother-in-law, Mary Ann Alge (Findlay, Ohio); brothers-in-law, John Alge (Ann), Columbus, Ohio, and Chris Alge (Columbus, OH). Additional family members include nephews, Jemari Myrick, (Union City, GA); Aedan (Columbus, OH); nieces, Carmikia Barnett (Montgomery, AL); and Izzie (Columbus, OH). Great nieces, Calea Brooks, Deja Cunningham, and Carly Barnette (Montgomery, AL); great nephews, Zacori Myrick, Carmello Hicks, Cartier Barnett (Montgomery, AL) and a host of cousins and friends.
Venita’s story does not end here. “There is a time to be born and a time to die” (Ecclesiastes 3:2) but death is not the end of the story for those who know the Lord. Venita knew the lord. She has merely traded in her earthy tabernacle for a new home. “For we know that if the earthly house of our tabernacle be dissolved, we have a building from God, a house not made by hands, eternal, in the heavens” (2 Corinthians 5:1). Venita will forever live in our hearts.
