Vanessa Ann Price Edwards born September 17, 1962, in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Mr. & Mrs. Alvin N. and Katherine L. Price. Vanessa departed from this life on October 30, 2014, into the loving care of her Heavenly Father.
Vanessa was a loving, devoted and dedicated wife (to her late husband Kenneth C. Edwards who preceded her in death) mother and grandmother.
Vanessa was educated in the Atlanta Public School system and attended Massey Business College and later Liberty University. She pursued a career in Accounting and worked several years in the field professionally.
Vanessa was a dedicated member of Trinity Chapel Church of God, where she worked in various positions (Life Link Leader, Cook for Christ, and Childrens Church). She worked as an organizer in many activities and was an advocate for some. She spearheaded the “Hearts of Pink” group for the Susan G. Komen cancer walk after being diagnosed in 2008 with breast cancer. She reached out to many about the importance of self-exams for preventive measures.
She knew no strangers and touched many lives. She loved to cook and feed everyone. Even when she was very ill, she still made an effort to reach out and go visit family members or acquaintances that could not get out or who was ill. She was always available to family and others to pray with and for advice. She was very selfless and a loving person.
She will be greatly missed by all.
She leaves to cherish her legacy, her son, Melvin (Chyna), daughter Kentisha and grandchildren KJ and Miles. Her siblings, Victor (Angela), Alvin (Rozetta), Kathy, Muriel (Jeff) and Maxine (Kenneth) and a host of nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, November 9 at Trinity Chapel Church of God, Powder Springs. Interment will be at 12 noon on Monday, November 10 at the Georgia National Cemetery, Canton.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 7 from 6 until 9 pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory, Marietta.
