Travis Clay Drake, age 39, of Hiram passed away March 4, 2014. Memorial Services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, March 8 in the Chapel of West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory, Marietta with Rev. Brian Sullivan officiating.
Travis was born and raised on a farm just south of Springfield, IL. Later Travis moved to Paulding County, Georgia where his family grew. He called Paulding County home where he lived for many years. However, he would still return to Illinois every Spring and Fall to help his family plant and harvest their crops. As a farm boy, he loved the big four wheel drive tractors and anything else that was big and had a lot of power. He loved the outdoors and was an avid outdoorsman. He was a member of the Hancock Hunting Club and loved to go deep sea fishing. He participated on a Co-Ed Softball team called YA C’mon with his friends, son and sometimes his wife. He enjoyed his job as an Operator Foreman for Caddell Construction.
Everywhere Travis went he made friends with his quick smile and sense of humor. At first glance he looked like a ferocious bear but in fact he was a big ol' teddy bear! He was always ready to help others. Whatever he did; work, play or hunt, he gave his all. He loved his wife and children fiercely. He had a tender heart and hard working hands. He will forever be in our hearts and greatly missed.
Travis is preceded in death by his grandparents: Ralph and Thelma Qualls and Mary Drake all of Girard, IL.
Survivors include wife, Cyndi Drake of Hiram, GA; parents: Dave and Sharlynn Drake of Girard, IL; grandfather, Ralph Drake; 3 children: Austen Drake, Katelyn Drake and Zachary Smith of Hiram, GA; sister, Jamie and Robert Crain of Famersville, IL; brother, Kevin Drake of Girard, IL; brother, Daniel and Dara Drake of Girard, IL and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 7 from 6 until 8 pm at the funeral home.
