Thomas F. Schirra

Thomas Francis Schirra of Powder Springs, GA died Wednesday, January 14th, 2015. He was 86 years old. He was born December 4th, 1928 in Scranton, PA. Son of the late Paul Schirra and Elizabeth Deininger Schirra Bombico. He was a Catholic by faith and a member of St. John Vianney in Lithia Springs, GA. He was retired from Armour Meat Company where he worked for 30 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Eleanore Petrauskas and wife Helyn Wright Schirra with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. He is survived by daughter Maryellen Cookie Barnes, son-in-law Boone Barnes; grandchildren Beth and Blake DuBose of Greer, South Carolina and Katie and Andrew Megli of Villa Rica, Georgia; great-grandchildren Owen DuBose, Aiden Megli and Eleanore Helyn Megli; dearest nephews and nieces whom he felt like were his own children. He was a Charter member of the North Georgia Vintage Thunderbird Club holding the office of Treasurer for many years.
