Thomas Roy Nash, age 90, of Powder Springs, Georgia passed away January 15, 2017. Funeral Services will be held at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 with Pastor Rusty Womack officiating with Jody Bogozan. Interment will follow at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park in Marietta, GA.
He is preceded by his wife of 51 years, Virginia G. Nash, and son, Perry A. Nash, 2 brothers and 3 sisters; Rayford Nash, Charlie Nash, Marie Harper, Lillian Nash, and Vera Graham.
He is survived by his sister, Joann Morton; daughter, Joy Nash and 2 grandsons, Joel Nash and Jared Nash.
Thomas was born in Greenwood, SC, March 13, 1926. He graduated from high school in 1944 in Elberton., GA; then volunteered for the US Army. He completed basic training in the Horse Cavalry at Fort Riley, Kansas. He was transferred to California for 4 weeks of advanced Infantry training, then sent overseas and assigned to the Army Amphibious Engineers on Layte Island in the Philippines.
After the war ended, his outfit was sent to Japan with other Liberation forces and was later transferred to the 25th Infantry Division for 12 months. After returning home, he attended UGA, and received his degree in Business and Accounting. After employment in Administration and Accounting with 3 other corporations; he started his own business (Dixie Fire Extinguishers Sales and Service, Inc.) in Cobb County. He sold his business in 1990 and retired.
He was member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Cobb Co. Chamber of Commerce, Latham Lodge No. 12, Order of the Eastern Star No. 312, The American Legion, and a life member of VFW.
Donations may be made payable to Trinity United Methodist Church in Austell, where he and his wife were members for 46 years. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, from 12pm until 2pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, GA. Online guest book at
