Thomas Harry Alexander, age 85 of Marietta passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2018. Funeral services will be held 2pm Friday, May 11, 2018 at Macland Baptist Church with Dr. Richard Walker officiating. Mr. Alexander will lie in state at the church from 12pm until the time of service. Interment will follow at Mountain View Memorial Park in Marietta with military honors. A native of Marietta, Mr. Alexander was a graduate of Osborne High School and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a former deacon at Olive Springs Baptist Church and Milford Baptist Church, and was currently a deacon Emeritus at Macland Baptist Church where he also served as a greeter. He was instrumental in starting the visitation ministry at Macland Baptist and was faithful to visit those in need for many years at Kennestone Hospital and other hospitals throughout the Atlanta area. He retired from Lockheed Martin in 1991 and was an avid camper and fisherman.
Mr. Alexander is preceded in death by his parents, Blond Eva Norrel Alexander and Thomas Deward Alexander, his brothers, Robert “Buddy” Alexander and Bernard “Bert” Alexander and his great granddaughter, Abigail Rose Pettett. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather to his family and is survived by his wife, Nancy Ruth Baker Alexander of Marietta; daughters, Lynda (Barry D.) Alexander Willms of Adams, TN and Lisa (Michael) Alexander Reed of Marietta, GA; brother, Bobby Joe Alexander; brother in law, Gordon K. Baker; sisters in law, Evelyn Alexander and Betty Alexander; grandchildren, Alex R. MacArthur, Alicia Pettett, Jonathan Willms, Zachary Willms, Daniel Willms and Josiah Willms; great grandchildren, Joy, Grace and Mercy Pettett; and nieces and nephews, Joyce Abernathy, Judy Davis, June Bigham, Randy and Jeff Alexander, and Kim Tapp.
