Theodore Dowdell Davis

Theodore D. Davis, 67, passed away of natural causes in his home on April 13, 2011. He was born in Atlanta, GA on March 3, 1944 to Dr. and Mrs. Robert Carter Davis, Sr. He graduated from the Brandon Hall School in Atlanta in 1962 and from Kennesaw State College in 1976. He also earned a Juris Doctor degree from the Woodrow Wilson School of Law in 1980. Mr. Davis served in the United States Air Force from 1963 – 67, stationed overseas in Turkey and Guam as an intelligence specialist. He earned the Vietnam War Service Ribbon. He joined the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department in 1974 and retired in 1999. He was preceded in death by his beloved sister Dana Davis McGee and is survived by four siblings: Dr. R. Carter Davis, Jr. (Dinah) of Highlands, NC; Mr. Christopher B. Davis of St. Simons Island, GA; Mrs. Malin Chamberlain (Walter) of Bay St. Louis, MS and Mr. Render Davis (Helen) of Atlanta, GA. He will be fondly remembered as a kind and thoughtful uncle to many nephews and nieces and as a loyal colleague by his many friends. He loved to ride his bike on the Silver Comet Trail; was a HAM radio enthusiast and an active member of the Atlanta Radio Club. Donations may be made in his memory to www.pathfoundation.org . A memorial service will be held at West Cobb Funeral Home at 2480 Macland Road, Marietta on Tuesday, April 19. The family will receive visitors from 12:30 pm until the Service at 2 pm.
