Tanja Natascha Barner

October 14, 1971 — September 10, 2020

POWDER SPRINGS - With profound sadness we announce the passing of Tanja "Tee" Natascha Barner (Martin), 48, a loving and devoted mother, wife, daughter, sister and aunt. She went to sleep peacefully with her loving family by her side on September 10, 2020. Tanja was born on October 14, 1971 to John and Johanna Martin, a cardiovascular perfusionist and devoted homemaker respectively. She was blessed with a large and loving family. Sixth in a line of eight children, she was the second girl.

Tanja was raised as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in East Providence, R.I. Her devotion, firm belief and love for Jehovah God supported her in her life and was her lifelong source of peace. Because of her love for Jehovah and for her fellow neighbor, she devoted many hours throughout her life to teaching others about what she had learned from the Bible.

Starting as early as 15 years old Tanja entered into the world of finance. As a successful Financial Documentation Analyst and Assistant Vice President of Operations she was highly respected and admired by all she worked with. She received many prestigious awards and accolades throughout her career from Textron Financial, GMAC, IBM, Bank of America and Sun Trust.

Tanja was a dedicated wife and mother first and foremost. Her 20-year marriage to Leroy Barner III has been described as "a pure love" "unconditional and true". She treasured her three sons, Jordan, Leroy, and Xavier of whom she loved and adored dearly. While embracing every moment with them she instilled in her sons a love for Jehovah and strong values that have served them well.

Since her childhood years Tanja had a passion for writing poetry and was a talented singer who sang at any moment to and with anyone. She loved to cook and try new recipes. Vacationing and fishing with her family was one of her favorite pastime. Her competitive spirit made her a tough competitor in a good ole game of kickball or table soccer, cards and board games.

Tanja was a stunning natural beauty who selflessly helped others with open arms, young and old alike. She will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts. All who loved her will never forget her firm devotions, tenacity, wit, charm, grace and deep unconditional love she gave to them. She will be greatly missed by many.

Tanja is survived by her husband Leroy Barner III, her sons Jordan Martin, Leroy Barner IV and Xavier Barner; her parents John and Johanna Martin; her brothers Homer Friedrich, John Martin and spouse Michelle, Pierre Martin and spouse Rebekah, Thomas Martin and spouse Felicia; her sisters Erika Green and spouse Bobby, Ivy Channer and spouse Ricardo; her 14 nieces and nephews Keith, Andrew, Kobe, Katrina, TJ, Jared, Stephon, Gesela, Ebony, Jasmine, Gianna, Naomi, Karena and Charlotte; her 6 great nieces and nephews Bradyn, Kingsten, Araya, Elliani, Omari and Jiovanni aka her "Mr. Jo".

She was preceded in death by her beloved sister Audrey Rocha and grandmothers Josefa Harsch and Charlotte Brown.

Due to the expected attendance and Covid-19 restrictions, the memorial service will be held virtually on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at 4 p.m. by Theo Rogers of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 4850 Ewing Rd, Austell GA 30106.
