Tammy Watkins passed away on February 26, 2025, surrounded by her husband and children, at her home in Acworth, Georgia. Tammy was born to Elton and Betty Stewart on December 5, 1957, in Hobart Oklahoma. She graduated from Guymon High School in Guymon, Oklahoma in 1976 where she met her loving husband of over 47 years, Mark Watkins. Tammy attended and graduated from Panhandle State University with a bachelor’s degree in education.
Tammy and Mark wed on August 13, 1977, and welcomed their son, Ben, in 1979 and their daughter, Haley, in 1983. The family spent time in Guymon, Oklahoma and Puyallup, Washington, eventually settling in Decatur, Alabama where they raised their children. Upon Mark’s retirement in 2019, Tammy and Mark moved to her final resting home in Acworth, Georgia to be near their grandsons, Stewart, and Duke.
Tammy loved her family deeply and she was an avid sports fan, particularly of the Austin High School (Decatur, Alabama) Black Bears and the Auburn University Tigers. She also enjoyed traveling with Mark and cherished her annual summer beach trip with family. The holidays were her favorite time of year, enjoying many family traditions including making Christmas cookies with her grandsons. Tammy was deeply committed to her husband and children and found tremendous joy in being a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and Nana.
Tammy is survived her husband, Mark, son Ben (Valerie), daughter Haley (Bryan), and 2 grandsons, Stewart and Duke Watkins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elton and Betty Stewart, sisters Sherry Hohmann and Melody Buker, and brother, Jim Stewart.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 3, 2025, from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation, at 2:00 pm, Monday, March 3, 2025, also at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel in Marietta, Georgia.
Burial will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta, Georgia.
The Watkins family would be honored to have all family and friends attend the visitation, funeral service, and burial.
