Sybil Andrews

November 2, 1927 — January 21, 2025

Sybil Ethlene King Andrews was born in Georgetown Guyana on November 2, 1927. Sybil was the second child of the late Martin Luther and Dorothy King.

Sybil's most cherished passions were her love of God, family, and her birthdays. As a child, Sybil was called "the Evangelist" because of her love of God. Sybil truly believed that there is nothing better than prayers, because Father is the answer to everything and can change anything, if asked. Sybil spent her days talking to Father and thanking Father for blessing her and her entire family. Sybil often spoke of her prayers to Father many years ago asking not to become bedridden. Father answered Sybil’s prayers and she was a true testament that prayers to Father will be prayers answered. Sybil was an active member of The Episcopal Church of St. Albany the Martyr in New York. Sybil’s relationship and mustard seed faith in Father started as a little one playing and running around in Guyana. Sybil was born into a Christian home where she first heard about Father and the mighty power of Father’s Holy Spirit!

Sybil graduated from Georgetown University School of Nursing in Guyana as a Registered Nurse. Over the years, Sybil delivered many of God's little blessings to many families as a midwife at Georgetown Hospital. Whenever asked, Sybil proudly confessed with stern conviction that she could still deliver another baby, if needed. After relocating to the United States, Sybil’s hard work paid off. She became the Associate Director of Nursing at Franklin General Hospital in New York until early retirement. Sybil became a naturalized citizen of the United States of America on January 23, 1967.

Sybil was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Guyanese native Mr. Cecil Stanley Andrews Sr., sisters, Ena and Mavis, and brother Micheal King. Sybil leaves to mourn, brother Lance King, honorary sister in laws Maureen Das, Pearlene Langford, Essie Andrews, Millie King, and Desiree King, only child Cecil Andrews Jr, 2 grandchildren and their spouses, Nolan Andrews Sr. (Alexia) and Shakera Solomon (Isaac), 2 great-grandchildren, Atalia and Nolan Jr, the blessed mothers of her grandchildren Rose Cunningham and honorary daughter in law Glendora Andrews, a host of loving and devoted nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and an abundance of friends.

Sybil was currently living in Lithonia Georgia with her son Junior and Sharon since 2023 until her passing. While living in Georgia, Sybil enjoyed dressing cute, looking youthful, and spending quality time with the fruits of her labor and extended family. Close friends coined Sybil as the “Dancing Queen”. Everyone was amazed that Sybil was still able to dance and enjoy life in her mid-to-late nineties! We knew Sybil was praying and thanking Father with every step. Sybil shared stories of her amazing brother Lanny with his abundance of home cooked “meals on wheels”, time, attention, and endless chats over the years. Sybil's pride and joy, her only child Junior continued the Andrews/King lineage by providing Sybil with two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Sybil often spoke highly of her thoughtful and loving niece Dawn King in New York with whom she enjoyed many years of quality time and her devoted nephew Godfrey Langford that always made her eyes smile and heart sing with all his numerous special visits over the years. To others near and far, Sybil was a living breathing miracle that ignited smiles, kisses, and love from resurfaced thoughts of current and past loved ones and the love they shared. Sybil stood less than 5 feet tall with a sassy whisper toned voice, but her faith and beliefs in Father was so much TALLER! Sybil lived her life according to her prayers, because she said all of the prayers of her entire life were answered! To us, Sybil was Mom, the Queen of our household that filled our hearts and minds with love, truth, and wisdom. May we all continue to dance through life with renewed rock solid faith in Father’s continued Grace and Mercy in Mom’s honor! Our queen is sadly missed today, tomorrow, and always.
