Stephen Christopher Justus

STEPHEN CHRISTOPHER JUSTUS, age 51, of Dallas, Georgia, died Sunday, February 18^th with his beloved sons, family and friends around him.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 25^th at West Cobb Funeral Home in Marietta.  Visitation will begin at 1:00 with a memorial service immediately following at 2:00 p.m.   Interment will be held with the family at a later date. 

Following Steve’s birth in Winter Park, Florida, to William (Bill) Justus and Cathy Millwood Justus, the family soon moved back home to West Cobb.  Steve attended North Cobb High School and had long-lasting friendships from school that were very special to him.

Steve is survived by his parents, two sons, Benjamin Justus (Ashley), Cody Justus (Natalie), and one step-son, Justin Faulds (Ashley), all of whom he shared with Christy B. Justus (deceased).  If asked what he was most proud of, it was his boys and the fun they had together when they were growing up.  We also have to mention the dogs he was devoted to: Twinkle, Shadow, Chief, Rocky, Jet and Tiny.

Steve had a varied work history beginning with Bell South and Cherokee County 911, but he always gravitated to computer work.  He was happiest using his self-taught computer skills working in law enforcement.  He worked with the Paulding Co. Sheriff’s Office and, most recently, Georgia POST Council (Peace Officers Standards and Training).  He enjoyed creating graphics, a few of which were used in television and movie productions.  At a younger age, Steve taught country line dancing at Cowboys in Kennesaw.  He always said that “music was his language,” and it was mostly country music.

The Justus Family would like to thank the doctors and staff at the WellStar Paulding Emergency Department and especially, Lucie and Keeton of the Critical Care Unit.  Their knowledge and kindness were so greatly appreciated at such a difficult time.

We would also like to thank the members of the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office and many of Steve’s friends who spent time with him over the last several weeks.  We don’t have your names or how to reach you, but we are so very appreciative.

 We are heart-broken.  He will be forever missed.  He lived hard, he loved hard, and he had a wonderful heart for those who were close to him.
