Sothy Khel

Sothy Khel, age 50, of Austell, Georgia passed away November 26, 2023. The family will receive friends at West Cobb Funeral Home on Sunday, December 3, 2023, starting at 12:00 pm with a 1:00 pm service followed by a ceremonial cremation.  

Sothy was born in Battambang, Cambodia on November 1, 1973, to parents Heang and Yuth Khel. He grew up in the West Cobb area and attended Osborne High School in Marietta, GA. He later worked at Hewlett-Packard as a Logistics Manager for more than 15 years. 

Sothy married Mara Keo in 1996 and lived in Austell ever since. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and volunteered at Sweetwater Mission in his community. He loved sports cars and watching soccer and football, rooting for the Atlanta Falcons and Georgia Tech. 

Sothy is survived by his wife of 27 years, Mara Keo; parents, Heang and Yuth Khel; sisters, Setha Hamilton and Vanthan Abernathy; brother, Sothorn Khel; mother and father-in-law, Sophy Sam and Sinon Keo; brothers-in-law, David Hamilton, Sina Keo, and Adrian Abernathy; sisters-in-law, Sara Khel, Sinuon Keo, and Sinoeun Keo, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
