Drake Shofner Satterfield

Drake Shofner Satterfield, age 86, of Hiram passed away August 6, 2015. Memorial Services will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at West Metro Church of Christ, Hiram. Inurnment will be on Monday at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 8, 2015 from 5 pm - 7 pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory, Marietta.

Mr. Satterfield was born in Nashville, TN and lived in Marietta for many years before moving to Hiram. He worked for Lucent Technologies before retiring and was a Corporal in the United States Army. He was of the Christian faith and a member of West Metro Church of Christ. He was an avid Ham Radio Operator, worked in Prison Ministry alongside his wife and also taught a New Christian Basics class for 17 years. He was a church Deacon for over 32 years and was also on the Advisory Board of Freed Hardeman University in Henderson, TN. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Drake and Ruth Satterfield and is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Annette Satterfield and their 3 sons: David Edward Satterfield of Powder Springs, John Mark Satterfield of Kennesaw, James Phillip Satterfield of Hiram; 5 grandchildren: Lisa Naoma, Kathryn Anna, Daniel Drake, John Curtis, Sara Anne and 3 great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Caleb and Logan.
