Shirley Thomas Parker, age 88, of Dallas, Georgia passed away Monday, November 27, 2023. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta with Rev. Marty Godfrey officiating. A Graveside Service will follow on Monday, December 4th at 2pm at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park in Marietta. After the funeral on Saturday, we will have a gathering at “Events Station“ in Powder Springs. Food will be catered. 4425 Marietta Street, Powder Springs, Ga 30127. It’s downtown Powder Springs, near First Baptist of Powder Springs, across the road and a few blocks down.
Born in Atlanta, Mrs. Parker lived most of her life in the Smyrna and Marietta areas before moving to Dallas, GA in 2011. After working for Atlantic Steel in Atlanta for a number of years, she worked for Lockheed, retiring after over 30 years of employment. She was also a longtime member of Faith United Methodist Church in Smyrna where she served as the organist and choir director. She was most recently a member of Burnt Hickory Baptist Church. Mrs. Parker loved reading books and solving crossword puzzles, and was an avid Atlanta Braves baseball fan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lanier Parker, Sr. in 2011, siblings, Lena Ruth Womack, Edwin Thomas, and Marian Crowder, grandson, Evan Parker, great grandson, Brandon Warnock, and son-in-law, Doug Eubank.
Survivors include: Children, Lane (Millie) Parker, Paige Eubank, Drew (Diane) Parker, Todd (Cricket) Parker and Reed (Jeannie) Parker; Grandchildren, Chris (Shannon), Morgan, and Bryce (Kari) Parker, Lori (Jed) Warnock, Holly (Cris) Liliac, Kelly (Lance) Jones, Ashleigh (Matt) Ezell, Josh (Amber) and Adam (Hannah) Parker, Kevin (Ashley) and Ryan Hinton, Katie (Kalen) Rixon, and Austin Parker, and Nick and Ryan (Arielle) Parker; Great Grandchildren, Zarah Dodaro, Paige and Piper Parker, Ansley and Hailey Warnock, Courtney and Dax Hickman, Sebella and Ryen Liliac, Tripp and Walker Jones, Riley, Reagan and Matthew Ezell, Addyson, Hudson and Sullivan Parker, Willow Hinton, Levi and Lawson Parker, and Sloane Rixon; Great-Great Grandchildren, Ava and Zayn Dodaro.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 1, 2023 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, Georgia.
