Shirley Ann Marshall

Shirley Ann Marshall, age 80, of Marietta, GA passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.

Shirley was born in Detroit, MI on July 4, 1941, and raised in Miami, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, M.J. "Sonny" Marshall, her parents, Bonnie Marie Peters Laughlin and Kenneth William Laughlin, and a sister, Bonnie. She is survived by her sister, Jeanie Hinds, and adoptive children, Donna Compton, Monica Hall and Gregory Meek, grandchildren, Emily, Katie (Evan), Dylan, Ansley, Lily, Justice & CJ.

Shirley had an illustrious career as a paralegal for several firms in Marietta, retiring from the Marsh & Frost firm. Outside of working in the legal field, Shirley enjoyed bowling, trivia, scrapbooking, and attending events for her grandchildren. She and Sonny loved NASCAR, and spent many of Shirley's birthdays in Daytona. Shirley loved people, and had a soft spot for animals, having rescued, fostered, raised and loved many yorkies through the years.

Cremation and burial services are being handled by West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory. Shirley will be laid to rest with Sonny at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA on March 18, 2022 at 11:30am. For those wishing to go in the procession to the cemetery, please be at West Cobb Funeral Home, 2480 Macland Rd, Marietta, GA 30064, by 9:30 a.m. There will be a reception to follow burial at the Elks Lodge #1657 at 1706 Powder Springs Rd SW, Marietta, GA 30064.
