Sharon Ruth Acton, age 86, of Marietta, Georgia passed away Monday, July 4, 2022. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta. Interment will follow on Friday, July 15th at 11am at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.
Sharon was born in Texas. As the daughter of a career military father, she had the opportunity to live in several states including Alabama, Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, and Georgia. Sharon married David H. Acton on July 14, 1960. She was a woman full of grace, wisdom, and beauty. She was an extraordinary wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed every moment with her family. Her many talents included cooking, gardening, sewing, and sales. Her work ethic, strength, and her ability to endure was second to none. God blessed the work of her hands in all that she did throughout her life. She loved attending and hosting family gatherings with plenty of food, conversation, and laughter of those around her. People were drawn to her kind compassionate heart and quick wit. She always placed the needs of others above herself and gave the best to everyone else. She was always thoughtful and typically would bring a gift to those she visited wanting to make them feel special. Sharon was extremely practical and applied this practicality in how she handled day to day life and decisions. She was always evaluating situations and circumstances with the perspective “what is best for the individual or the collective group in any given circumstances”. She never placed herself first. She had a deep love for her sister Barbara, and her Brothers Albert and Chuck as well as her extended family. She was delighted to be called Oma as she adored all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sharon’s faith in Jesus Christ was steadfast and manifested through her heart for serving others ahead of self. Sharon attended Mars Hill Community Church in Powder Springs with her son’s family, and was preceded in death by her husband, David H. Acton, in 2015.
