Sandra Ellen Williamson Tidman of Smyrna, GA, passed away on Sunday morning, September 29, 2024. Her daughter, Jenny, was beside her when she slipped away ever so quietly. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at 10:30 am at Presbyterian Village with Chaplain Chris Moore-Keish officiating.
Sandra was born on Thursday, December 26, 1940, in Atlanta, GA. She attended Henry Grady High School, where she met her future husband, Gordon when she was in 8th grade and Gordon was in 10th grade. Sandra graduated from Northside High School in Atlanta, GA as well as Reinhardt College in Waleska, GA. Sandra married Gordon on March 17, 1962, at Hunter’s Air Force Base in Savannah, GA. They lived in Savannah for Gordon’s last year with the Air Force and returned to Atlanta. Gordon was hired almost immediately by Lockheed-Georgia Company in April 1963 and retired from the company after 41 years of service. Sandra worked at several office jobs before having children and becoming a stay-home mom.
Sandra loved to sew, do embroidery, crochet and read books. She learned to sew at an early age and made her own dresses as well outfits for her daughters from the time they were newborns. She had a little sewing area in their bedroom but once the girls grew up & moved out, she had 2 sewing & embroidery rooms! Sandra also enjoyed the time spent she spent with The Knit Wits group at Macland Presbyterian Church.
Being a wife, mother and grandmother was the greatest joy of Sandra’s life.
Sandra is survived by 2 daughters, Jenny Tidman of Smyrna, GA and Laurie Tidman Chau of Woodstock, GA, 2 grandchildren, Ethan Chau of Acworth, GA and Emersyn Chau of Woodstock, GA, and best friend of 40 plus years, Mary Margaret Dickens, Marietta, GA. She was predeceased by her husband & father of her daughters, Gordon Albert Tidman, her parents, Emmett Roscoe Williamson and Adele Overton Williamson, brother, William “Allen” Williamson.
Sandra was a member of Macland Presbyterian Church, Powder Springs, GA and she was a resident of Presbyterian Village in Austell, GA, since 2021. The family wishes to thank everyone at Presbyterian Village for taking such wonderful care of our mom, Sandra.
