Sandra Helen Brackett Dolph, age 70, of Smyrna, GA , passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 after a long battle with brain cancer. Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, April 4 at Calvary Baptist Church, Powder Springs with Rev. Snyder Turner officiating. She will lie in state from 1 pm until the funeral hour. Graveside services will be held at 2 pm Saturday, April 5 at Liberty Hill Methodist Church Cemetery in Fannin County. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 until 8:00 pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory, Marietta. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt.
Sandra graduated from Sprayberry High School in 1961. She went on to work for Southern Bell until she married and began her family. She then took many years off to raise her family before returning to the work force as both a bus monitor for special education students in Cobb County, and the enjoyment of cooking for the priest of St. Thomas the Apostle in Smyrna. Sandra dedicated and lived her life for Jesus Christ. She was very involved in the Lord’s ministry at Calvary Baptist Church in Powder Springs for 40+ years. She devoted her time and efforts to mentoring the children by teaching Sunday school for over 30 years until she became too ill to teach. She also led the Calvary Ladies Union for many years and served where ever she was needed. Sandra even opened her home temporarily to foster a young girl while waiting to get into a children’s home. She took that child in and accepted her as if she was her own. Sandra mostly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren whom she loved very deeply.
Sandra is survived by her husband of 51 years, Harold Dolph of Smyrna, GA, her two daughters and son- in- laws, Robert and Stephanie Hilderbrand and Shane and Allison Hall, one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Misty Dolph, seven grandchildren, Ben, Jake, Skye, Logan, Devlin, Abigail and Anna Kate, also her two great grandchildren, Ansley and Wyatt. Also surviving are many special family members including her brothers and sister-in-laws, Charles and Carolyn Brackett and John and Martha Brackett, brother-in-law, Kenneth Bryant as well as many nieces, nephews and family friends.
Sandra is predeceased by her parents, Charles “Lake” and Ernestine Brackett of Blairsville, GA, also by her “baby” sister, Judy Brackett Bryant. Online Guestbook available at
