Samuel Dean Mobley, 83, of Powder Springs, Georgia, died on January 26, 2012 of complications from several illnesses.
Sam served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, attaining the rank of corporal. He graduated from Georgia State College (now GSU) in 1959 with a BS degree. He was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi and a charter member of GSU's Sigma Nu chapter.
For 18 years, Sam worked for Colonial Stores, Inc. as an accountant and internal auditor. He also met his wife Joyce there. He retired from the Georgia Department of Public Safety in 1995 with 27 years of service.
Sam is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joyce Glover Mobley, his daughter and son-in-law Joy and Evan Herring of Hiram, Georgia, his daughter Dena Hudson and grandsons Brett and Luke Hudson of Marietta. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Reuben and Julia Mobley of Stone Mountain, Georgia, and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Kathy Mobley, a brother, Bob Mobley, and a sister, Julia Davis Diebel.
Visitation will be Monday, January 30, 2012 from 1pm - 3pm at West Cobb Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral services will be held at 3pm in the chapel. Mr. Mobley will be cremated following the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sam's favorite charities: the American Heart Association, the American Kidney Foundation, the American Lung Association and the American Diabetes Association.
