Yvonne Hazard, 81 of Powder Springs, GA, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2022. She was born June 19,1940 in Winter Park, Florida to the late Clarence and Sallie Mae Edwards.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Roland W. Hazard. They met and married when he was serving in the US Air Force. Yvonne and Roland eventually made their home in Massachusetts. They were blessed with four lovely children to whom she was a warm, loving and devoted mother.
Yvonne was known as a gifted writer and gregarious spirit. “Sister” Hazard as she was warmly called, accepted Christ into her heart at the age of 21 and was committed to spreading the Word of God to family, friends and strangers. With her bible in hand and usually dressed to the nines, she enjoyed attending church and was instrumental in leading noon day prayer at Regent Street Church of God in Christ in Mattapan, MA. Shortly thereafter, she became a member of the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Brockton, MA, where she faithfully served as the leader of the usher board. She was also a part of the nursing home ministry and established a Vacation Bible School program. She progressed from being a licensed missionary to becoming an Evangelist Missionary and was always very active in the community. Under the leadership of the late Bishop L.C. Young of the State Temple Church of God in Christ in Mattapan, MA, she became president of the Women’s Department and served as state secretary to the Church of God Christ Massachusetts Women’s Department .
She worked almost 30 years as a telemetry specialist at Good Samaritan Hospital and for 10 years she graciously opened her home as a foster mother to children from the Boston area. In 2005, she and her husband retired to Powder Springs, GA where she was active in Trinity Chapel Church of God now Seven Springs Church. There, she served as a mentor and prayer warrior. She was also a dedicated Bible class student, and a greatly loved church mother.
She leaves behind her children: Rolanda (Lawrence) Hazard-Arnold of Jericho, VT, Roland (Lisa) Hazard of Temecula, CA, Hope (Aaron) Gamboa of Powder Springs, GA, Faith Bulgar of West Wareham, MA, her grandchildren: Cherise, Marissa, Meaghan, Ciarra, Aaron, Mark, Roland, Mya, and Kai. She was preceded in death by her brother, Artis Edwards. She is survived by her sisters, Clover Hardaway of Winter Park, FL, Magnolia Clarke of Mattapan, MA, Lee (Wil) Rambeau-Kemp of Winter Park, FL, Lynda Rambeau of Winter Park, FL, Cesaly Zamore of Denver, CO, and Zsa Zsa Rambeau of TN. As well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 9th at West Cobb Funeral Home in Marietta, GA from 4:00-5:30 p.m. A graveside service and interment will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA on Thursday, February 10th at 10:00 a.m. Bishop Bolin will be officiating.
