Rufus Wilson

Mr. Rufus (Rudy) Ralph Wilson, Jr. was born to the late Rufus R. Wilson, Sr. and Minnie (Shelton) Wilson on September 28, 1949; he departed this life on Monday, February 3, 2025. A memorial service will be held at 12 pm on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 in the chapel of West Cobb Funeral Home in Marietta, Georgia with internment at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia at 3:00 pm.

Rufus was a member of Lovejoy Baptist Church, where he was baptized and worshiped at an early age. He graduated with honors from Main High School in Rome, Georgia, class of 1967. He served in the United States Navy as a radarman and received an honorable discharge. Rufus went on to have a dedicated career with DeKalb County until his retirement.

All that love Rufus knows we need not worry about him for greeting him at the heavenly gates will be his maternal grandparents William and Celia (Dozier) Shelton and his paternal grandparents; parents Rufus Ralph Wilson, Sr. and Minnie Lee (Shelton) Wilson; a brother Bruce Wilson; a special friend, James T. Adams; special aunts, Alter Marie Carroll and Ola S. Cole; uncles, William G. Shelton, Jr., and Dr. Bobby L. Shelton, Sr.; and a host of other loved ones.

Rufus is survived by one brother, Reginald (Debra) Wilson of Powder Springs, GA; a nephew, Reginald (Brandi) Wells of Powder Springs, GA; one niece, Hope (Shard) McClure of Rome, GA; special aunt, Reverend Deacon Edna Shelton of Woodbridge, VA; and a host of special cousins and friends.
