Dr. Rufus Burr “Buddy” Rutland, age 85, of Acworth, GA passed away Friday, December 15, 2017. Graveside Services will be held at 2pm on Friday, December 29th at Cuthbert Cemetery in Cuthbert, GA.
Raised in Cuthbert, GA, Dr. Rutland moved to Cobb County 30 years ago. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served after the Korean War. He retired from the Navy Reserves as a Commander. Afterwards, he attained a PhD in Horticulture from Michigan State University, then worked as a Professor of Horticulture for the University of Georgia and the University of Tennessee.
