Ronnie R. Smith Sr. was born on June 7, 1956, in Savannah, Georgia, to his parents, Edward L. Smith Sr. and Mary H. Butler-Smith. The 5th baby of 8 children. Ronnie was an excellent student. He graduated from Groves High School in Savannah, GA in 1974.
Ronnie dedicated his life to Jehovah God and symbolized it by water baptism at the age of 15, in 1971. For 53 years he remained a faithful and devoted servant of Jehovah, until he fell asleep in death on March 14, 2024. Ronnie was an avid Bible student who loved to speak of God’s promises to all who listened. He is well known by his relatives, friends, and spiritual brothers & sisters, as a confidante and source of spiritual encouragement. He viewed his privilege of fulltime service as a volunteer minister as his career in life. His favorite scripture was Isaiah 48:17,18 and he showed by his actions that he believed its words:
On May 27, 2006, he married his loving wife Pamela. In this united union they provided love and care, for 5 beautiful children Kenya, Nijah, India, Ronnie Jr., and Brandon. Ronnie, also known as ‘Daddy’, ‘Big Ron’, and ‘Granddaddy’, will be truly missed. We often think of his beautiful smile, his laughter, his sense of corny humor, his love of amazing music, his tasty dishes, especially his baked goods and his determination and reliance on Jehovah. We will laugh as we remember his response to matters, “Got to be more careful!”
Ronnie was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, & friend. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Edward L. Smith Sr. and Mary H. Butler-Smith.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his beloved wife Pamela : his brothers Edward Smith Jr. & sister-in-love Mamie Smith, Orran Smith & sister-in-love Tina Smith, Carl Smith, Melvin Smith & sister-in-love Sharon Smith; his sisters Barbara Williams, Gloria Saussy, and Lydia Williams & brother-in-love Johnathan Williams; his 5 beautiful children Kenya V. Smith, Nijah L. Smith, India K. Smith, Ronnie R. Smith Jr. & daughter-in-love Chante Smith, Brandon D. Robbins & daughter-in-love Justina Robbins; his 2 beautiful granddaughters Chloe Smith & Vanni Smith, and his super cool grandson Seikou Smith; and a host of cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and very close friends!
