Roger Earnest Celler, age 81, of Kennesaw, GA passed away Sunday, February 7, 2016. Private Services will be held at a later date.
Born February 8, 1934 in New Bedford, MA, Mr. Celler lived in Marion, MA when not traveling with his father, who was in the Navy during WWII. He attended Colegio Ponceno in Ponce, Puerto Rico in 1948 and 1949, then attended Noble and Greenough Preparatory School in Dedham, MA in 1950 and 1951. After high school, he enrolled in Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT. Roger enlisted in the Navy in 1952 and served for 2 years aboard the USS Hornet. In 1954, he returned to Middlebury College for 1 year, then transferred to Syracuse University. He graduated in 1958 with a B.S. degree in Speech and Dramatic Arts.
In May of 1959, he married a Syracuse classmate, Carole Grala of Hazleton, PA. They had one son, Bill Celler, of Kennesaw, GA. Roger also had 4 grandchildren, Stephanie Rentz Gibson and husband Gary Gibson, Eric Celler and wife Erica Talley Celler, Devin Rentz and Jason Celler, and a great grandson, Gary Neil Gibson. He is preceded in death by his parents, Caroline Calkins, Frederic A. Celler, and step mother, Margery S. Celler.
Roger’s career took he and his wife to live in New York City, Glenside, PA, Sherman Oaks, CA and Gaithersburg, MD. They recently moved to Kennesaw, GA to live with their son, Bill Celler, and his wife, Teena Celler. In lieu of flowers the family would like people to make a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Wellstar West Cobb Hospice.
