Robert Stephens, age 92, affectionately known as Buddy, entered the gates of heaven on October 6, 2024 in Marietta, Georgia, after a brief illness. Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 11, 2024 at Riverview Memorial Gardens in Smyrna, Georgia. Interment will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens in Smyrna, Georgia. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Jo Houghton, brother Charles Stephens, and brother Tony Stephens. 

He was born May 25, 1932, in Shannon, Georgia to the late Bill and Mincie Moon Stephens. Buddy enjoyed playing all sports while growing up and later turned his favorite pastime into coaching his son Pat in Little League, plus umpiring for baseball and softball. 

Robert graduated from Model High School and entered the US Army serving at Fort Benning during the Korean Conflict. He was then employed by Bell South (ATT) and worked for them his entire career. After raising their children in Cobb County, Robert and Jean retired to the Northeast Georgia mountains in Habersham County. There, he was a member of Cornelia Christian Church. 

In the 1980s, Buddy became a friend of Bill W. and actively participated in the program. As he helped himself , he also helped a multitude of others on a daily basis. 

Buddy is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jean Bell Stephens; daughter Cheryl Clever (Tim), son Pat Stephens, daughter Kristi Pinson (Vince), Granddaughter Brianne Culbreath (Jamie) and grandson Alex (Ashton) and 4 greatgrandchildren: Callen, Anders. Ryan, and Amelia; A sister Cindy Reno(Larry), a brother Dean Stephens, and several special nieces and nephews.
