Robert "Bob" Lumpkin, age 59, of Marietta Georgia, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, September 25, 2020, after a battle with cancer. Due to Covid restrictions, a private memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 3rd, 2020 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta.
Bob was raised in Fort Walton Beach, Florida and was a graduate of the University of West Florida. He spent the last 30 years in Marietta, Georgia. He worked in IT/Telecommunications with Bellsouth, ATandT, and Amdocs for 32 years. He loved music and was a gifted guitarist and vocalist. He served on worship teams at several churches over the years. He enjoyed playing in his band "Shaky Ground" with his brother, Carl and friend, Tom. He also enjoyed snow skiing and traveling with his family.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 30 years, Debbie Lumpkin; his children, Jacob Lumpkin, Leah Lumpkin, and Evelina Lumpkin, all of Marietta, Georgia; his brother, Sam Lumpkin and his wife, Nancy, of Montevallo, Alabama, his sister Linda Pink and her husband, Phil, of Niceville, Florida, and his brother Carl Lumpkin and his wife, Caron, of Powder Springs, Georgia; his aunts, Nora Williams and Ray Dean Dodson of Westfield, Indiana; his father-in-law James F. Whidden Jr. of Suwanee, Georgia, his sister-in-law, Becky Bishop and her husband, Tommy, of Marietta, Georgia and brother-in-law, Jim Whidden and his wife, Martha, of Cumming, Georgia as well as a host of family members and friends who loved him dearly.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.
