Robert Dean Amodeo, lovingly known as Bob or Bobby, was born in 1959 in Chicago, Illinois. He passed November 26, 2019 in his Marietta, Georgia, home at age 60.
Born to James, Sr., and Louise Amodeo, Bob was the youngest of eight. He attended Mary Lyons Elementary and Lane Technical College Prep High School. He graduated from Chicago's Washburne Trade School's Apprentice Program as a Journeyman Carpenter (1982).
He married Yvette (Olavarria), his first sweetheart, in Buffalo, NY (1983). Together they made their first home in Chicago and welcomed a daughter just one day before their first anniversary.
Bob received his B.A. in Political Science/Criminal Justice from the University of Illinois at Chicago (1989). While there, he enjoyed being a clarinetist in the concert band, a member of the National Model United Nations (1986), and a brother of Phi Kappa Phi. He completed his MBA in Quality Management/Cost Accounting at the University of South Florida (1993).
In 1996 he transferred to Atlanta as an Olympics Logistics Manager. Bob and Yvette acquired their family home in Marietta, a fixer-upper they would lovingly renovate together and inhabit until his passing. Bob's handiwork was painstaking; as with anything he did, he took pride in a job carefully and perfectly done.
In 2000, Bob was pleasantly astonished to welcome another daughter into the world, a long-awaited dream come true.
His true joy in life was protecting and caring for his girls. He was an exceptionally loving and faithful husband, a solid place to land for his daughters and son-in-law, and a proud grandfather of "his boys." He will be missed for his calm, his sense of humor, and his steadfastness.
Bob is survived by his wife Yvette, née Olavarria; children Jenée (Glauber) Tonelli and Demeri Amodeo; grandchildren Sebastian Dean and Zander James Tonelli; siblings Janice (Jose) Garcia, Carolyn (Joel) Himpelmann, Marilyn (Milton) DaSilva, Frances (David) Garacci, Sandra (David) Ransom, James (Aluana), and Lorri (Mark) Yahoudy; as well as 19 nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents in 2003 and 2015.
Visitation will be 10:30a at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home (Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, KY) on Friday, December 6, followed by a 12:30p service. Robert will be laid to rest at the Blue Grass Memorial Gardens in Nicholasville, KY.
