Rita Pope

Rita G. Pope, age 92, of Powder Springs Ga passed away peacefully at her home Monday Nov 21, 2022..

Rita was born April 1930 in London England (she would say within the sounds of Bow Bells) Rita lived through WWII where she and her family entertained the troops with singing,dancing and a family atmosphere... She met her American Air Force GI who brought her to the States in 1956 to Douglas Ga..after moving around the States and the UK she finally settled in Powder Springs.. Rita retired from IBM after being there for 10 yrs as an executive secretary, she then went to work part-time at The Marietta Theater on the Square in the box office where she finally retired at the age of 78 yrs old.. Rita learned to paint at the age of 72 which she shared with her loved ones and friends..Rita is known for always wearing a hat and her beautiful operatic soprano voice..She was a member of every choir at all the churches she was a member of..

She is survived by her 3 children; David C Pope (Lisa) of Dallas GA, Dina L Johnson of Powder Springs Ga, Daniel W Pope (Amanda) of Douglasville GA. Her 10 grandchildren and their partners and soon to be 15 great grandchildren..

We ask that all Ladies attending to please wear a hat in Honor of Rita and to also dress in colorful clothing..there will be a reception to follow with a British flair..

In lieu of flowers Rita has asked that you buy a flowering plant or rose bush to plant in your garden or for her family to plant in remembrance of her.
