Richard Bruce Slone

Richard Bruce Slone, age 59, of Powder Springs, Georgia passed away October 13, 2017. Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 20, 2017 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel in Marietta with Elden Morris officiating. Private Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. Richard was preceded in death by his mother Charlene Slone.

Richard was a native of Columbus, OH and has spent the last 10 years in Powder Springs, GA. Richard was the Mayor of Weldon, IL for 2 years before moving to Powder Springs, GA. Richard was an Eagle Scout and loved working with the Boy Scouts. He was a member of American Legion Post 294 in Powder Springs. He loved golf, camping, Nascar, playing candy crush, riding motorcycles and was an avid reader. He especially loved spending time with his family who called him Doodah.

Survivors include: wife of 26 an a half years: Roberta Slone of Powder Springs, GA; father: Hasel "Jim" Slone of Kentucky; three children: Joseph Wade (Dara) Hill of Florida, Brianna Rene Slone, and Jared Chance Slone both of Powder Springs, GA; brother: Scott (Kelly) Slone of WA.; sister: Gretchen (Bill) Dodd of Kentucky; two grandchildren: Alyssa Nicole Hill and Haylee Rose Hill and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 20, 2017 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta.
