Richard Morris Shock, 86, of Powder Springs, Georgia passed away and went to be with Jesus on Friday, March 21, 2025, surrounded by his family. Richard was born on February 17, 1939, in Braxton, West Virginia to Newlon Shock and Edith Shock Markley.

Richard loved his family immensely. He was married to Sharon Christian for 19 years. Between the two of them they had 6 children. He was the proud Papa of 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. They also raised two of their granddaughters, Avery and Kayleigh, for the last 14 years.

Richard was passionate about his lawncare business, Shock's Lawncare, that he ran for over 25 years. When he wasn't working or at home, he enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Big Buck Hunting Club which he later became the president. He was also a member of Due West Methodist Church in Marietta, where he was a part of the Methodist Men's Group and Agape Sunday School Class. One of his favorite events was to volunteer at the Pumpkin Patch for the Youth Ministry.

Richard would call people all day long just to check up on them and chat. He was always cracking jokes and making people laugh. He had a fun personality and never met a stranger. If someone was in need, he was always ready to lend a helping hand. He loved to take care of his chickens and even built them their own pen to be kept safe. He was also a crafted woodworker. He made shelves, cabinets, trash cans, and much more.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Newlon Shock and Edith Shock Markley, sister Susan Brouhard, son Michael Shock, daughter-in-law Janet Shock, and daughter-in-law Lisa Swanson.
