Richard Sabatini

November 29, 1938 — March 16, 2025

Mr. Richard Peter Sabatini, age 86, of Marietta, GA passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, March 22, 2025, in the chapel of West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, Georgia with Deacon Bruce Reed officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 am until 11 am prior to the service at the funeral home.

A native of Schenectady, NY, Mr. Sabatini was a talented basketball player in high school, and went on to play at Lafayette College in Easton, PA. He served in the United States Army just after the Korean War, then began his career in the steel industry, heavy equipment industry, and then cement and concrete industries. His career took him from New York to Connecticut, and from Texas to Missouri and Tennessee, then finally retiring in Georgia. His employers included Carpenter Steel, Condec, and Lonestar Industries, which were all in Connecticut, Blue Circle Cement in Georgia, and then served as President of Staten Island Terminal in New York. His hobbies included tennis, snow skiing, shooting guns, playing golf, and reading in his spare time. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gildo and Aminta Sabatini.

Survivors include: wife of 35 years, Patricia Powers Sabatini; 2 children, Joan Sabatini, Dallas, TX, and Greg (Stephanie) Sabatini, Austin, TX; brother, Arthur (Ruth) Sabatini, Syracuse, NY; grandchildren, Joey (Hariuska) Arion, Midland City, AL, Stephanie (Andrew) Vose, Mead, CO, Michael (Kaitlyn) Sabatini, Longview, TX, Ryan Sabatini, Austin, TX, and Kristina Sabatini, Austin, TX; step grandson, Tim (Lee) Arion, Wylie, TX; brother-in-law, Tom (Ann) Powers, Pittsfield, VT; former son-in-law, Joe (Lisa) Arion, Lavon, TX; many nieces, nephews and cousins in the Syracuse, NY area; godchildren, Dillon Dunbar (Mandie McKelvey), Cana (Alec) Connaughton, Treva Aycock and fiancé Andrew Burchell, and Brantley (Claudia) Aycock; parents of godchildren, Tim (Tassie) Aycock, and god-dog, Becks, Georgia.
