Richard H. Gazaway, 80, of Marietta passed away, Friday, October 5, 2012. Services will be held on Sunday, October 7 at 2 pm at Roswell Street Baptist Church in Marietta with Dr. William Camp and Dr. Ernest Easley officiating. Mr. Gazaway will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park.
Mr. Gazaway retired from the Training Dept at Lockheed Martin after 40 years of service and was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean conflict. He was a Deacon and member of Roswell Street Baptist Church. He was a member of the Hot Dog Club at Brandi’s in Marietta.
He is survived by his wife, Winifred Gazaway, Marietta; son and daughter-in-law, Micky and Pattie Gazaway, Powder Springs and daughter and son-in-law, Mendy and Rob van Pelt, Whitby, Ontario, Canada; grandchildren: Amanda (Joseph) Long; Katie (Rob) Lindmark, Jessica van Pelt and Brett van Pelt; brothers: James C. (J.C.) Gazaway, Powder Springs and Clifton Gazaway, Taylors, SC and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 2 until 4 pm and 6 until 8 pm at West Cobb Funeral Home, 2480 Macland Road, Marietta , 770 419-9234.
