Richard "Dick" Lamar Cowart

Richard "Dick" Lamar Cowart, age 73, of Powder Springs, Georgia peacefully passed away July 14, 2024. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 21, 2024 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel in Marietta, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Royster "Pee Wee" and Evelyn Cowart, and his dear older brother, Michael Cowart.

A lifelong resident of Cobb County, Richard was a Veteran of the United States Air Force where he served with honor as a sergeant until the time he was honorably discharged. He then went on to work and eventually retire from Lockheed Martin after 37 years. He was of the Baptist faith, a member of the Marietta IPMS, The Plastic Model Club and the International Aerospace Machinist Workers Union. Richard loved spending time with his family and friends and enjoyed going out to eat with them. An enthusiast of airplane models, Richard found great delight in collecting and sharing his passion with others in the modeling community, forming everlasting friendships along the way.

 Survivors include: two brothers: Stan (Kay) Cowart of Douglasville, GA and David (Susanne) Cowart of Kennesaw, GA; sister: Sherry Cowart of Canton, GA; nieces: Shea Cowart Millsaps and Nicole Cowart (Roger) LaVigne; great-nieces and nephews: Makayla Ford LaVigne, Chase Millsaps, Mady Millsaps, Andrew LaVigne and Brodie LaVigne along with numerous extended family and friends. 

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 20, 2024 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, Georgia. Richards final resting place will be beside his loving family at Mica Baptist Cemetery in Ballground, GA.
