Renee graduated from Wills High School in 1976 where she was class president her freshman year and remained active on Wills High School class reunion committees throughout her life. She enjoyed going on trips to New York City and California through the years with her classmates from Wills High School. After receiving her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Chattanooga in Business Administration in 1981, Renee began her career at Cousins Properties. Renee left Cousins Properties in 1996 to raise her children and be a stay-at-home mom. However, Renee began volunteering at Dowell Elementary to be involved with the lives of her children during their elementary school years. This eventually led to a position in the front office of Dowell Elementary until her retirement in 2021, In 2017, she was awarded employee of the year by Cobb County Schools. Renee began battling breast cancer in 2007 and consistently overcame the formable challenges of Stage 3 cancer, heart arrythmia and Stage 4 cancer treatments and did so with unmatched grace, humor, and positivity. She was known for sending inspiration or greeting cards on every occasion, which kept her going throughout her cancer journey. She beat cancer by how she lived and not by how long she lived.
Renee is survived by her husband Dunn Henry, her two children Gage and McLain Henry, her daughter-in-law Shelby Griffin Henry, and her grandsons Griffin and Shepherd Henry.
Renee was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother (Ma Nae to her grandchildren), daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt, and friend. Her children and grandchildren were her lifeblood. She was also always loving, caring, and interested in other people’s wellbeing. Renee found joy in everyday life and even much more after her cancer diagnosis.
