Prisca Obiagaeriaku Duru Jawona went to be with the Lord at Presbyterian Rust Medical Center Rio Rancho, New Mexico, USA on Monday 20th June 2022. Prisca was born on February 13th, 1967, in Kumba Cameroon to her late parents Joseph and Theresa Mbaegbu Duru of Umudim Nkume Njaba L.G.A, Imo State Nigeria. Prisca excelled in everything she did growing up and in life. Prisca was passionate about helping others and enjoyed cooking authentic Cameroonian and Nigerian dishes for her friends and family. Prisca was always active, she ran track and played hand ball while at St. Francis College in Kumba Cameroon. She moved to Austell, Georgia, USA and began her university studies at Atlanta Metropolitan State College where she met and later married the love of her life, Peter Jawona.
Prisca went on to graduate with her bachelor's degree in nursing from Brenau University and was recently preparing to graduate with her Master of Nursing degree in Healthcare Management. Prisca began her nursing career at Grady Memorial Hospital were her dedication towards her patients 'and her colleagues continued. Having worked Step-down unit, Medical surgical/Oncology, Prisca continued to excel in her profession becoming a charge nurse on her unit, winning the Nurse Excellence award, and many other accolades she received over the years. Prisca later moved to New Mexico, USA with her husband and children where she reached the top of the nursing ladder also winning the Daisy award which is a prestigious award given to a select number of nominated nurses around the world that show extraordinary compassionate care. Prisca's great team player attitude continued with great testimonials from her colleagues. Prisca is survived by her Husband Peter, their beautiful and wonderful children, her siblings, and many nieces and nephews. She is loved by many, and her spirit will forever live on.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta. Interment will follow at Mount Harmony Memorial Gardens in Mableton, Georgia. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 23, 2022 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta. Online guest book at
