Paul R. Potts, of Marietta, GA, (formerly of Madison, AL) died after a brief illness on July 8, 2020 at the age of 90. He was born in Barnesville, GA and moved to Alexandria, VA in his teenage years where he met his wife. Paul served in the U.S. Army and was employed for over 45 years with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. His work took him and his family to Saudi Arabia for 7 years in the late 1970s. Paul enjoyed researching genealogy and traced his ancestors back to the mid-1700s. He was admired and respected and deeply loved by his family and friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Nita Nelson Potts. He is survived by his children: David Potts (Carleen Daly); Lorena Peterson (Alan Peterson); Jenelle Thornton (Wayne Thornton); Julie Wear (Tim Wear) and Troy Potts (Cathy Potts) and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Due to the current COVID situation, the family has elected to postpone a funeral at this time and will have a celebration of his life at some point in the future. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, please make a donation in his name to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or the Georgia Genealogical Society.
