Patricia Ann Boozer

March 12, 1942 — December 22, 2021

Patricia Ann "Patty" Boozer, age 79, of Marietta, Georgia passed away Wednesday morning, December 22, 2021. A memorial service will be held on May 1st, 2022 at 2pm at Light of Hope Presbyterian Church, 1507 South Hurt Road, Smyrna, GA 30008.

Born in West Point, GA to George Albert Whiten, Sr. and Evelyn Bray Whiten, Patricia spent the early years of her life in both Manchester and Gainesville, GA, growing up with her twin sister Sandy and younger brother, Pete Jr.. Gainesville became their permanent home after the end of WWII, when her father returned from serving in the US Army forces in Germany. Patricia attended Gainesville High School, an enthusiastic "red elephant" lettering in basketball and was a cheerleader. Upon graduation, she headed to North Georgia College where she fostered her love of tennis and fell in love with her lifelong husband, David Boozer.

Following 4 years of military life stationed at Fort Bragg, Patricia and David settled in Marietta, GA where they raised their children, Trisha and David. They were active, longtime members of Calvary Presbyterian Church in Smyrna. In addition to child-rearing, Patricia pursued her love of tennis, playing and winning multiple awards in the ALTA and USTA tennis associations. Those she faced truly hated the slice in her second serve.

Patricia was known for her great kindness and warmth expressed through her home-made jellies, cards and notes, a listening ear, witty comments, and timely advise. Patricia loved old movies and all things Georgia Tech. She developed a wide circle of "godchildren" whom she adopted from every office and store she regularly visited. Many also knew her as the "Gum Lady" because she always had a purse full of gum to brighten the day of everyone she saw.

Above all, she deeply loved her family, always their avid cheerleader.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, David, her parents, and her brother, Pete Jr. and sister-in-law Jane. Survivors include:

Twin sister: Sandy Whiten, Gainesville, GA

Daughter: Trisha (Glenn) Emerson, Wauchula, FL

Son: David (Lisa) Boozer, Lookout Mountain, GA

5 Grandchildren: Amanda Boozer, Lauren Boozer, Erica (Jeremy) Smithberger, Elisa (Jason) Bradstreet and Evan Emerson
