She was queen of almost everything, loved a glass of wine and didn't suffer fools easily. She lived life her way, always remaining true to who she was and although very opinionated, rarely offered it without being asked. She never, ever complained, even when she learned, on her 55th anniversary, that pancreatic cancer had given her a death sentence. Joie de vivre best described how Pam led her life. Her grandchildren, dogs, books, naps, travel, cooking, oysters on the half shell and extra dry martinis were her passions but she was also capable of offering a middle finger salute or turning you into a toad and still giving you a great big hug. She always forgave.
Although she retired in the mid 80's, Pam always considered herself a 3rd grade teacher. She loved kids at that age because they could take themselves to the bathroom but still shared all the family secrets. What you saw was what you got with Pam, there were no pretenses. One of her favorite expressions was, "well bless your heart" but we all knew what she really meant.
Pam's heart and home were always open, welcoming family and friends as well as total strangers. She delivered her first grandchild (who was born at home), traveled widely, read virtually everything, raised a family and made literally everyone who met her, smile. She was a woman who knew herself well and was satisfied with what she found. She made those who knew her feel better about themselves and she was always armed with a quick wit, a ready smile and a smart quip. Pam made an indelible mark on many lives and will truly missed by all but forgotten by few.
Pam's is survived by her husband Mike, children Doug (Michelle), Jennifer Daniel (Brian) and Elizabeth Palmer (Jeff), grandchildren Ashley Christian (Lafayette), Alia Christian, Emerson Christian, Madeleine Christian and Bentley Daniel, sisters Glenna Hayes (Dave) and Gina Stickelmaier.
