Ourm Pov, age 83, of Hiram, GA, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt to many passed away on Friday, January 6, 2022. She was born on February 1, 1939, in Battambang, Cambodia, the third child of eight, to Touth Pov and Ith Rom. A survivor of the Cambodian genocide, she emigrated with her daughters, brother, and sisters along with their children to the United States. She settled in Philadelphia, PA for many years and later moved to Georgia where she resided for the remainder of her life.
One of the most humble, sweet, playful, and down to earth woman whose talent in Cambodian comedy brought love and laughter to those around her. Her contagious laughter and bright smile lit up any room she entered. A giving woman, Ourm spent most of her time contributing to charity, specifically in the Cambodian community and temple, Trairatanaram Temple. She was a giving woman who devoted her life to helping others. Her contributions through Temple enabled those in need the possibility for a better future. Ourm spent most of her days caring for her garden, a talent that she inherited from parents who were farmers. Her caring and nurturing spirit was demonstrated in the care she provided her daughters and grandchildren. Another of her past times was spent cooking as this was her way of showing her love for her family.
Ourm Pov was a passionate mother and grandmother. A single mother of two, she was strong willed, independent, and a force to be reckoned with. She raised her daughters and helped raise her grandchildren with an iron fist, but with a gentle heart. She was the most formidable, most caring person and one of the best cooks. She helped her grandchildren grow into a branch of what she learned. She will be missed tremendously.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Oeup, Saroeung, Saroeup, Ghoeun, and sister Sareuth.
She is survived by daughters Sovy and Saveon Chum and her grandchildren, Vanessa, Jason, Valery, Essence, Kurtis, and Sienna.
