Ottis E. Cheatham

Mr. Ottis E. Cheatham, age 83, of Marietta passed away Thursday, May 2, 2013. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, May 6 at First Baptist Church Smyrna, 1275 Church Street SE, Smyrna, GA 30080 with Rev. Charles Allen and Dr. Sam Matthews officiating. Mr. Cheatham will lie in state from 1:00 pm until the service. Interment will follow at Georgia Memorial Park.

Mr. Cheatham is preceded in death by his parents: Virgil and Maude Cheatham; his sister, Sara Lou Jordan; brother, Gene Cheatham and twin brother, Oliver Cheatham. He is survived by his loving wife, Anne; son, Tommy and wife, Jill Cheatham of Marietta; brother, Bill Cheatham of Paulding County and grandchildren: Carolynn and Katie Cheatham of Marietta.

A lifelong resident of Cobb County, Mr. Cheatham was an Army Veteran having served in Germany during the Korean War. He was retired from CSX Railroad after 35 years as a Conductor. After retiring Mr. Cheatham enjoyed square dancing, traveling with his wife and serving and caring for others. He was a member of First Baptist Church Smyrna for over 50 years and enjoyed serving in the Parking Lot ministry.
