Nellie H. Shiver, age 85, of Dallas, Georgia passed away Friday, January 8, 2021. Private Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta. Interment will follow at Powder Springs Memorial Gardens.
A native of Cobb County, Mrs. Shiver raised her family in Austell, GA, then later moved to Dallas, GA upon her retirement. She worked for Lockheed for 20 years, then for Cobb Hospital in Austell for 10 years. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed being generous to those in need. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Walter Talmadge Bates and Benny Shiver.
Survivors include: Son, Vince (Tammy) Bates, Dallas, GA; Daughter, Vicky Bates (Robert) Buresh, Waleska, GA; Brother, Tommy Horton, Kennesaw, GA; 3 Sisters, Christine Hulsey, Woodstock, GA, Alice Hopkins, Orlando, FL and Joyce Denton, Douglasville, GA; 2 Grandchildren, Brockton Bates and Ashley DeClue; 2 Great Grandchildren, Weston and Aaliyah.
