Nancy Jewel Milligan was born October 6, 1962, in Fort Wayne, IN, to the late Harvey Milligan, Jr. and Jacqueline A. Milligan. “Fancy” Nancy was the only child born from that union. Nancy gave her life to Christ at an early age at the Friendship Baptist Church of Fort Wayne, IN. She later joined Gathering of Champions International Cathedral, Inc., Marietta, GA, where she worshipped until her health failed. She departed this life on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 in her home, after a long battle with lyeomyosarcoma.
Nancy was raised in Fort Wayne, IN until the age of 13, at which time she relocated with her mother to Los Angeles, CA. She attended Hollywood High School, graduating in 1980. She later attended Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising of California, and Kennesaw State University of Georgia. Complementing her keen fashion style, Nancy began her career in retail, working as a floor manager at Lane Bryant for several years. She later took a position with Home Depot as a Buyer’s Assistant, where she worked until her illness overtook her. In her spare time, Nancy loved to play Bid Whist. She was a founding member of the West Cobb Bid Whist Players card group. Nancy was also a keen Scrabble player beating her opponents on a consistent basis.
Nancy fought a good fight for over three years. She enjoyed life to the fullest, flashing that infectious smile and her distinctive laughter until she heard the trumpets sound; calling her home to glory. No more struggle, no more pain; only peace, love, and joy everlasting. On Tuesday, December 27th, at 9:15 am, Nancy left this earthly realm and received her crown of eternal life. She is now praising and rejoicing in the Lord, with all His glory, honor, dominion and power, forevermore. AMEN.
