On the evening of May 28, 2024, Nancy Ellen Horner passed away at the age of 78, after a short illness. She was surrounded by her loved ones. Nancy was the heart of our home and family. She will be greatly missed. Nancy was born in Dalton, GA on December 15, 1945, to parents Irvin Johnson and Clyde Sparks Johnson. Although she lived and worked in Dalton for many years, she and Glenn moved to Acworth in 2017 to be closer to family. She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Robin and Aaron Rickles, her daughter Alicia Duvall, her sons Slate Horner and Addam Horner. Her grandchildren include Ty, Christian (Rashada) and Lydia (Brittany). Her great grands are Payton Alicia, Maya Caroline and Solomon Slate, and special friend, Jean Flesher.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Glenn David Horner, and her sister, Barbara Mitchell.
Nancy enjoyed sewing, refinishing furniture, antique and thrift shopping, and never missed an episode of Everybody Loves Raymond.
Nancy had a heart for children, as evidenced by almost thirty years in the classroom. Nancy and Glenn would spend many weekends delivering much needed supplies and household items to students in the community.
After a much needed retirement from education, Nancy was faced with caregiving on another level when her sweet husband was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. She was committed to caring for him at home and kept that promise until he passed only four months ago.
At the request of Nancy, we will have a private family service to honor her life after her cremation. We will always carry her memory in our hearts but please help by providing us with your favorite memory of Nancy!
