Myrtle Rose Rodgers, age 84, of Hiram, GA passed away October 29, 2020. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, GA. Interment will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta, GA.
Ms. Myrtle Rodgers was a native of Port Maria, St. Mary Jamaica and left in 1968 and moved to Plainfield, NJ. She retired from Muhlenburg hospital after committing 23 years of dedicated service. She was an active member of the United Methodist church where she was an Usher, fed the homeless, participated in vacation bible study and truly loved being a servant. In 2018, she moved to Powder Springs, GA by taking a faith walk to live closer to her family and to continue to watch the growth of her six great-grandchildren. Her laughter, joy and love was felt by so many as she selflessly gave of herself.
Survivors include: two children: Nellie Rose (Antonio) Edwards of Marietta, GA and Gary Anthony (Donna) Thorpe of Plainfield, NJ; two sisters: Grace Rodgers of London, England and Christa Bell Rodgers of Kingston, Jamaica; three brothers: Leon Rodgers and George Rodgers both of Port Maria, St. Mary, Jamaica and Stanley Rodgers of Covington, GA; two granddaughters: Natasha Rose (Lambert) Johnson and Cardel Julia (Albert S.) Crossfield; six great-grandchildren: Marcel L. Young, Skylynn C. Crossfield, Nyle A. Crossfield, Karrington J. Crossfield, Lambert N. Johnson and Jonathan C. Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and many loving friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 13, 2020 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, GA.
